Diane Black is a Kingston artist whose primary material is clay. She has a full time studio practice where she does both sculptural and functional works. Diane is also an arts educator and often works with neurodivergent adults.
In her own work, Diane considers sculpture to be her primary focus.
Making things is the way she processes the world around her. Therefore, her work is most often a reflection of life’s happenings; family, love, pets, environmental and political concerns. These themes are explored through the portals of humour and story telling. Ultimately, Diane hopes viewers of her work will find a sense of connection.

“I like to think that in its essence, my work is about story telling. The visual narratives that emerge may be personal, fantastic, contemplative, ridiculous or simply about my relationship with the materials, particularly my fascination with clay.
