Annette ten Cate
Annette ten Cate graduated with honours from the Sheridan Craft & Design Program in Ceramics and, following graduation, was selected for a year-long residency at Medalta’ International Artist in Residence Program (MIAIR).
Her work explores themes of kindness, care, humanity, and our relationship with the natural world.
She uses clay to create wildlife characters within human narratives, bringing humour and lightheartedness to familiar experiences and everyday moments. Although they are animals, they somehow manage to reflect and capture our own humanity.
Her work has been exhibited nationally in both solo and group exhibitions.
Each hand-built piece is formed using earthenware clay and simple wooden tools.
